Astronomy Education and Reconciliation in Science

This session will discuss how Astronomy Education can be a doorway for building understanding and respect for Indigenous Worldviews. Astronomy is rich with culture, meaning, and helps us connect to the land, sky, and everything in between. How can we interpret our understanding of Astronomy as a science through Indigenous Worldview? 

Presenter/Facilitator Bio

Natasha is a Metis woman and mother who grew up and lives on Treaty 6 Territory, Metis Region 4. As Indigenous Education Specialist, she/they work with the TELUS World of Science -- Edmonton to create opportunities for understanding and interpreting science through Indigenous Worldview. Natasha also works on two research projects -- one with Athabasca University looking at Astronomy Education, and another with Harvard University examining possible evidence for Extraterrestrial Intelligence.
