MCC Microlearning Series - Long-Lasting Effects of Concussions

Long-Lasting Effects of Concussions

Long-Lasting Effects of Concussions focuses on the various types of concussions, identifying some of the impacts on the overall quality of life for individuals experiencing the effects of concussions (both short and long term).  Through a better understanding of the concussion a beneficial discussion of possible avenues of relief for the individual may be discovered; acknowledging the difference of the condition when adopting treatment methods and lifestyle changes that are beneficial to the individual.

Naomi Tirrell, B.A.

Naomi is in the final stages of a Masters of Counselling at Yorkville University.  She is completing her counselling practicum placement with McKinney Psychology in Central Alberta.  Naomi acquired a dual degree through the University of Calgary majoring in Sociology and Psychology.  Naomi has attained supporting certification in Alternative Dispute Resolution through Herzing College in Toronto; striving to support individuals through a healthy, quality lifestyle while addressing an appropriate conflict management and resolution process.

Naomi’s practicum placement has been focused on providing Trauma Informed Counselling and supporting Indigenous Women.  Within the counselling setting, Naomi strives to provide a healthy exchange of ideas; while providing a client centred, holistic approach.  By highlighting the client’s qualities and strengths, Naomi assists with the formulation of an effective plan to maintain success. Everyone has encountered things that are hard to face alone and Naomi is always honoured to be here to help.

Naomi has a long history of supporting people in need; actively participating in many agencies beneficial to vulnerable populations of all ages.  Most recently she has managed a supported group home for adults with significant mental health and addictions.  She is in the final phase of a masters in counselling program and hopes to start the next steps of becoming a registered psychologist; progressing as an effective professional within mental health.
