National Indigenous Women's Gathering
Maskwacis Cultural College is please to announce that MCC is once again hosting the National Indigenous Women’s Gathering, scheduled for March 8, 9 & 10, 2023 in Calgary, AB at the Sheraton Cavalier Hotel.
MCC is an Indigenous Post-Secondary that has been in existence since 1974 and is owned by the Samson Cree Nation, the Ermineskin Cree Nation, the Louis Bull Tribe and the Montana Cree Nation. MCC is located in central Alberta in Treaty Six territory in the traditional territories of the Maskwacis Cree people in Maskwacis, Alberta.
MCC has developed a training program for facilitators based upon principles of healing, wellness and community development. As Indigenous women, we are all too familiar with the many challenges that exist in our communities’ present day and MCC is seeking to credentialize individuals with Level One, Level Two, Level Three and Level Four of the CircleWorks facilitator training program. MCC is building upon over thirty (30) years of experience with trained facilitators and we utilize the booked authored by Geneva Ensign, entitled “Community Healing: a transcultural model” (2018).
MCC would be pleased and honored to have your organization partner with MCC in order to successfully host the gathering. The event will be held at the Sheraton Cavalier Hotel, in Calgary, AB. We are anticipating over 130 women from across Canada and approximately 30 MCC staff. All participants will be provided with their own room due to the recent COVID global pandemic as we want to ensure health and safety of all attendees. The program begins on the evening of March 8th and ends at 1:00 pm on March 10th, 2023. This is an intensive program and requires full commitment and 100% attendance. There is little room for outside distraction as the goal is to equip people with skills for group facilitation. The gathering itself serves as a framework for a model to utilize within your own communities in training and empowering women, from youth to elders alike.
